Name: Amber Hannant DOB: 26/03/1994 Profession: Powerlifter athlete/personal trainer.''We weren't sure if I was going to come out of my coma, we weren't sure if I was going to recover well enough to ever even be normal again, let alone be able to come to where I am now. To wake up 2 or 3 days later and have this big scar on my tummy and to be told I'll be on tablets for the rest of my life. It was a bit of a shock." Amber Hannant
Amber is currently preparing for her first performance at the WDFPF World Championships, having qualified earlier this year as a 58.5kg junior lifter.
"At this same competition I was able to break a 28year standing British Bench Press record now set by my standard at 67.5kg. I have every intention of drastically increasing this at the coming Worlds. I am also a qualified PT with a growing client base who I try to share my love of lifting with.
I came into powerlifting through my own rehabilitation following a near fatal car accident, during my rehab I was introduced to the powerlifting movements, and though I had to start off regressed and simple, over time I took to them with a great passion and determination to get better. This story only started 4 years ago, 2 years after my accident when I was finally able to take on more serious rehabilitation. As many did in the gym I initially worked with standard formats of training, but through personal education and my own training experience I was able to become a more proficient and able lifter. Having only been powerlifting for 1 year I am now excited for the future I have in the sport."
